MiniCalendar is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our macOS application. The short version: We don't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data or calendar information.
Privacy First: MiniCalendar is designed with privacy as a core principle. All your calendar data stays on your Mac. We never send your data to our servers or any third parties.
Information We Don't Collect
MiniCalendar does NOT collect, store, or transmit:
- Calendar events or event details
- Personal information (name, email, etc.)
- Meeting links or URLs
- Calendar names or sources
- Usage data or analytics
- Device information
- Location data
- Any other personal information
How MiniCalendar Works
MiniCalendar operates entirely on your local Mac:
- Calendar Access: With your permission, MiniCalendar accesses your calendar data through macOS Calendar (formerly iCal) using Apple's EventKit framework.
- Local Processing: All calendar data is read and processed locally on your Mac. Nothing is sent to external servers.
- Display Only: MiniCalendar displays your calendar information in the menu bar. Your data never leaves your device.
- Settings Storage: Your preferences (like first day of week, enabled calendars, etc.) are stored locally using macOS UserDefaults.
Permissions Required
MiniCalendar requires the following permissions to function:
Calendar Access
MiniCalendar requests access to your calendars to display your events and allow you to create new events. This is a standard macOS permission that you grant when you first use the app.
You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars.
No Other Permissions
MiniCalendar does not request or require any other system permissions such as:
- Network access (no internet connection needed)
- Location services
- Contacts
- Microphone or camera
- File system access beyond calendar data
Data Storage
The only data MiniCalendar stores locally on your Mac includes:
- User Preferences: Settings like your preferred first day of week, which calendars to display, menu bar display mode, and launch at login preference.
- No Calendar Data: We don't store copies of your calendar events. All event data is read directly from macOS Calendar when needed.
This data is stored using macOS UserDefaults and remains on your Mac. It is not transmitted anywhere.
Third-Party Services
MiniCalendar does not integrate with or send data to any third-party services, including:
- Analytics services
- Crash reporting services
- Advertising networks
- Social media platforms
- Cloud storage services
Meeting Links
When you click a meeting link (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, etc.) detected in your events, MiniCalendar opens the link in your default web browser. This is equivalent to clicking a link yourself - we don't track or log these actions.
Calendar Synchronization
If you use cloud-based calendars (iCloud, Google Calendar, Exchange, etc.), your calendar data syncs through macOS Calendar, not through MiniCalendar. Your calendar sync settings are managed in System Settings > Internet Accounts.
MiniCalendar simply reads this data locally from macOS Calendar and has no control over or access to your synchronization settings or credentials.
Children's Privacy
MiniCalendar does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't collect any data, there are no special considerations for children's privacy.
Data Security
Since MiniCalendar doesn't collect or transmit your data, there's no data at risk of being intercepted or breached. Your calendar data security depends on:
- Your Mac's security settings
- macOS Calendar's security
- Your calendar service provider's security (if using cloud calendars)
We recommend keeping your Mac and macOS updated to ensure the best security practices.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect any of your data, there's no data for us to:
- Access or review
- Correct or update
- Delete or forget
- Export or transfer
You have complete control over your calendar data through macOS Calendar and your calendar service providers.
Uninstalling MiniCalendar
If you choose to uninstall MiniCalendar:
- Drag MiniCalendar from your Applications folder to the Trash
- Your preferences will be automatically removed
- Your calendar data remains untouched in macOS Calendar
- You can revoke calendar access permission in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars
International Users
MiniCalendar is a local application that works entirely on your Mac, regardless of your location. Since no data is transmitted, there are no international data transfer concerns.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make any changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of MiniCalendar after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
We will notify users of any material changes through the app or our website.
